Does everyone else think this is the right thing for me to do?

One of my friends, Paul, is moving to Jacksonville, FL tommorrow morning because his job moved from Kansas City, MO to Florida. I live in LA because of the same thing, but almost a month ago. So we were talking to eachother on the phone and everything, and he says something about how he has to move some things he can't take with him, to the dumpster. He said something that I cannot believe. He says he can't take his 2 budgies, which he has for over a year and a half, with him to Florida because it takes him alot of money to go to FL. So he said that he grabbed the budgies, one by one, on his hand, and he snapped their neck, and they died. I was so appalled at this that I hung up on him right there, and I called the Missouri cops (I know one of them for over 8 years, he used to be a DARE officer that came to my middle school), and I told them that and they said that they were on their way.
