Why am I having Periods twice a month at 46 yrs. of age? Igot IUD changed last aug. No pain/smell during per?

At 46 yrs.,I've started getting periods twice a month since last 4 cycles. I have no other symptoms of pain/ smell or stiffness during periods. Negligible discharge between cycles(creamy,no smell). I had internal ultrasound done which is clear. My mother started menopause well beyond 50. Is it due to menopause for me or I may be having some problem? It's not easy to get an appointment with a gynae here , it takes abt2-3 months.Please advise.
