Thinking about moving to Charlotte, NC?

My sister and her husband are moving to Charlotte because of FEDEX and I was offered to fallow them to be with my nephew and soon to be niece (yay). But what im wondering is what is Charlotte like? I like in Southern California. My husband wants to move there because of the racing influence there. What are the good points and bad points about Charlotte? I have 2 pitbulls, california HATES pitbulls and its hard to move with them. Does Charlotte have the same ideas about pits? How much history is there (im a history buff and love museums etc...) Also, my grandparents live in Virginia and every year have to leave home because of a hurricane. Do the storms reach NC or is it just out of reach.
